A Fashion Parade With garments from reNU by Diane Dynes Despite it being a bitterly cold, stormy wet night we managed to to get set-up through a power cut by candlelight! Conveniently the power flicked back into life as you ladies began to arrive. A set-up to remember. We had a lovely friendly evening on Friday 19th May where we enjoyed our lovely local models wear Diane’s garments that are creations manifested from mainly pure wool jerseys and coats that have been reborn into exclusive designer originals. Diane lives in Winton in Southland and makes a range of sustainable fashion garments from preloved woollen wear. She has a collection of 100 good quality garments which are direct marketed.
A Night Out with Miss New Zealand (Dr Deborah Lambie)
On Saturday 12th November Deborah Lambie, the current Miss New Zealand came to the Clinton Community Centre and spoke about being involved in a Beauty Queen pageant, her time in China at the Miss World contest. She spoke too about becoming a Medical Doctor and setting up LearnCoach for NCEA students with her fiancé Dave. She is a delightful down to earth Dunedin girl, who presented herself with such ease and has a great sense of humour. She was accompanied on Saturday night with her fiancé Dave and her parents.
The First Main Event Our Opening Night. June 10th. Dessert & Coffee Evening at the Clinton Community Centre It was absolutely wonderful to see so many women turn up and enjoy getting together on the 10th. Thank you for the encouragement, enthusiasm and support so far in getting The Clinton Ladies Hub off the ground. We knew there was a need, but didn’t quite foresee the extent. We were also encouraged by the wide range of age groups present. It seemed the older you were the more you loved seeing all ages of women together. This is community. We have also been surprised by the number of men who have made positive comments. With the number that attended and with apologises counted, we were very close to 150 women accounted for. Amazing! Can’t stop now! We also enjoyed an amazing array of desserts. We said to bring a small dessert, but I don't think country women know the meaning of that word when it comes to food. Generosity at its best!
